Bangor to Llangefni Bus driver not smiled in 16 years

Beryl Crump Local News

A local bus driver has admitted he hasn’t smiled in nearly two decades and will probably never smile again, we can reveal.

Terry Collins, 56, has said he does not know why he stopped but it is probably to do with working with the public.

He said, ‘This life isn’t for everyone. Nobody’s ever grateful anymore. These days we’ve got digital payment, WiFi, even a robot voice to tell you where we are stopping next, do we get anymore thanks? No we don’t. All I get is kids who sneak on and pensioners thinking they’ve got one up on me with their free pass.’

‘I used to smile. Sometimes I’d even chat with those fellas who stood at the front thinking they were clever. Not now. People don’t say anything to me and I don’t say anything back. When all this is done, I’m gonna get myself a little place, maybe a bit of land, with not one bus in sight. Not a bell telling me when to stop, not a tosser telling me he wanted a single not a return. And then, maybe then..I’ll smile.’
