Taxi driver prepares to be asked if he has been busy

An experienced Taxi cab driver is now fully prepped for when he will be asked if he has ‘been busy?’.

Dave Hughes has been a cabbie for 20 years and is asked if he has been busy on every shift he’s ever worked, something he has now prepared for.

He said, ‘I’m done with saying ‘steady’ or ‘not bad’. I give it my best stuff now… a full monologue where I talk about all the customers, the money I make and then I conclude with a philosophical look at whether being busy or being quiet matters at all. By that time I’ve usually got to the destination.’

Regular customer Keith was impressed, ‘I always like to ask if he’s busy early on but I must admit after that I can often be stumped for anything else to say. But Dave’s long, quite detailed answer now passes several minutes by and after my last cab I was asking myself, ‘What is busy? Where is busy?’’

Later Dave informed us he was not, in fact, busy.
