Llanberis celebrates 10th anniversary of road works.
Celebrations today as the Welsh village of Llanberis hits its 10th anniversary of non-stop road works.
The popular mountaineering destination has had approximately 10 temporary traffic lights scattered around the single road leading into and through for so long now that the village prides itself standing still in traffic for hours on end.
Councillor Guto Wyn Goch said, ‘It’s a great achievement for us and firmly puts us on the map of road works that nobody knows will end for the foreseeable future.’
‘It’s been so long since the work started we’ve all forgotten what they were actually doing in the first place. But it’s nice for drivers to sit in traffic and admire our beautiful sites, B&Bs and of course, the next bit of road works they’ll be sitting in.’
One digger operator told us, ‘I just sit here digging the same hole and filling it in every day if I’m honest.’
