Dad drowns in Sports Direct mug

A father had died drowning in a Sports Direct coffee mug, we can reveal.

Larry Johns was given the over size mug for Father’s Day and was yet to use the mug. But things turned for the worse last week when Larry settled with a full to the brim coffee resulting in him getting into trouble and drowning in it.

His daughter Helen said in her tribute to her father, ‘Dad lived for his coffee and he was so pleased when he received the Sports Direct mug last year.’

‘Unfortunately the mug is so massive that he was not able withstand the power and depth of the mug. We found him floating in his Kenco around 9am on Monday morning.’

‘We as a family would like there to be more awareness of how big and dangerous a mug that full of tea or coffee can be. Our dad was not a strong swimmer and he was caught up in the stirring whirlpool he created with his two sugars.’

Sports Direct have offered a football sized tennis ball as way of compensation.
