Radio 1’s Big Weekend is to be held on Swansea’s Mayhill with Ed Shearen to be put in a burning car as the headline act.

Thousands of fans will flock to the infamous rioting hill, where burning cars flying down the street hit the headlines last year, to see some of the biggest acts including Lil Throbbing Cock and jazzy poptress, Quimy.

A resident told us, ‘Finally we can have a bit of positive media for us, mun. Although I personally cannot wait to see Ed Shearen put in a car, in flames, rolling down this hill. It’ll have a real positive impact on this community as the kids here will get to see that and think, ‘I too can put a fella like that on fire and push him down a hill’.’

‘We weren’t so lucky last year, as we had to use empty cars. This time we’ll have Dua Lipa or someone. It’s no fun alighting a Fiat Punto with nobody in it to scream.’

BBC’s Greg James added, ‘I can’t wait to see the sights such as the burnt out car the council still haven’t taken away, the trainers that always hang on the phone lines and of course, I hope to meet the frightened man who just can’t get a house anywhere else, it will definitely be a riot!’
